Women’s shelters in Singapore are often designed with a focus on function and security, overlooking the role of space in emotional healing. The stigma attached to these environments further isolates survivors of sexual, physical, and emotional trauma. My project, SHE, reimagines this approach as a trauma-informed wellness center. By integrating layered design principles through light, material, and spatial flow, SHE creates a space that encourages reflection, promotes inclusivity, fosters empowerment and supports a sense of normalcy in recovery.
